Psychotherapy for children
I offer Clinical Psychotherapy and Art Psychotherapy for children, both in individual sessions and therapeutic groups. I also facilitate family therapy sessions to support stronger relationships and healthier communication within families.
In therapy we address behavioural concerns while helping parents better understand what may be happening beneath their child’s behaviour. I guide parents in learning how to support their children during moments of emotional dysregulation and help families develop strategies that strengthen connection and emotional safety.
I support families experiencing challenges such as:
• Screen addiction
• Emotional dysregulation
• Social skill difficulties bullying at school and friendship issues
• Behavioural challenges
• School refusal
My approach incorporates creative and play-based therapeutic methods to support emotional expression, regulation, and resilience. Many children find it difficult to engage in traditional talk-based therapy and may struggle to express their feelings using words alone. I create engaging therapy sessions where children feel safe, comfortable, and motivated to participate.
Research shows that children often communicate through art and play before they are able to fully express their experiences verbally. In sessions, I use these creative tools within a structured, trauma-informed therapeutic framework to help children feel safe, seen, and understood.
Sessions can be funded through the NDIS where appropriate. I am also a registered Psychotherapist with Medibank, ahm, and Bupa, allowing sessions to be partially funded through private health insurance.
